Tampa Bay Vipers XFL Football League

EXCLUSIVE: Jeffrey Pollack Will Remain With New XFL 3.0

One of the names that has stuck with the XFL through thick and thin over the past couple of years is President & COO Jeffrey Pollack. Today we have heard that he has the XFL’s future in his long term goals.

He has led the league admirably at his current position, charting a course through the shutdown, bankruptcy & sales process, all the way to the league’s current efforts to restart.

With Oliver Luck out of the picture, the obvious question is whether Pollack is being considered for the Commissioner spot. As someone who was so intimately involved with the league’s operations through this rocky year, he would be uniquely qualified for the position.

XNH Writer Josh Davis was quick to point out that:

“Pollack has been the figure working behind the scenes with team venues and execs, getting everything lined up during the whole bankruptcy process”

He not only has worked closely with team presidents, he actually hired them the first time around, so this is a man who’s had his hand firmly on the wheel this entire time.

While it is not a wholesale surprise that Pollack is staying on board, it is a great reassurance for the league’s future prospects. Getting teams back up and running is a huge initial step to putting the league back together, and he will be an essential part of this process, regardless of title. The same goes for working out deals with stadiums, networks, etc.

Pollack has worked for the XFL since January 2019, and brings an extensive resume in the sports world to the table. As the Commissioner of the World Series of Poker, he brought the tournament to the media market and used his expertise in marketing and partnerships to catapult it to success.

Having served in key leadership roles with the NBA, NASCAR, and in the NFL, few know the varied industry landscape better, and his skills as a marketing executive have made him a highly sought after entity.

He has longstanding ties to ESPN that go back to the late 90s, when his publication “The Sports Industry Daily” was the network’s industry insider. Pollack also happens to be the half-brother of longstanding NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. The NHL has done well in contending with COVID-19, and this connection could prove invaluable if the XFL ends up needing to facilitate some sort of bubble for its next season.

After a long period of radio silence from the XFL, it is good to hear about how things are coming into form, and news of Pollack’s continued involvement is fantastic for the league.

From the zoom meeting we saw just days ago, it appears that Dany & The Rock are working hand in hand with Pollack and his skeleton crew to get things up and running as we speak. Regardless of his title moving forward, he will be a key figure in bringing the XFL back onto the field.

Stay tuned.
